“Where Do I Belong?” by Dianne H. Timmering

You are the children of the LORD your God . . . for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession.  Deuteronomy 14:1-2

I recently had a friend tell me that he did not feel like he belonged in this world and he had great sadness. I suggested that he did have a toe in this world, have a purpose, a destiny, a reason for being, for the beauty of his creation because this friend was a part of the beauty of God’s creation, a steward over many, a steward over few.

If you are having the same thoughts, let me say that, I understand.

But you do belong. Once you find that place, you will feel at peace with all. Your place is your journey, the beginning path of which God is directing. Step into it and find the longing belonging peace that you seek. Ask Him, Who am I, Where do I belong? What do you want me to do God? Why do I feel such discomfort in my shoes? Why do I feel I don’t belong? Help me to find the comfort in your arms, the desires of both of our hearts so that we are unified in being and doing. Help me to find You, dear Lord.
