“False Humility” by Dianne H. Timmering

For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

Let us not mistake boldness for arrogance. Let us not mistake timidity for weakness. Let us not mistake false humility for humbleness. What is false humility? It is perhaps most suspect–encouraging inaction or a reason not to act even when the nudge of God is present upon the thumb to forge ahead, to try. Perhaps false humility is a result of hidden fears, blistered faith, or fleeting confidence.

Let us embrace boldness along the rope of humility and be willing to be willing. Let us be bold, unabashed and action-packed in the true path of God.

Love to all – Dianne
