“Mercy” by Dianne H. Timmering

I desire mercy, not sacrifice . . . Hosea 6:6

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6

Joe spoke of having “mercy” at Friday’s meeting to the team. How powerful mercy is; how difficult it is to give some times and yet we are asked by God to give it freely even when wronged by another. Yet we readily hunger for mercy if we have wronged them. Let us freely give, freely offer and freely receive mercy and in the difficulty of doing so, ask Him for help.

Dearest Lord, help us give mercy to those who have wronged us and receive it from those who offer. We are worthy, and where necessary, help us to give mercy in the space it is often so hard to give–to forgive ourselves. Please Lord enrichen our discernment with clear eyes and Your vision of love.

Love to all – Dianne
